  • The past two years STEMxPolicy has successfully engaged with 135+ students from University of Windsor as well as students across Ontario and the US​

  • The STEMxPolicy team strongly believed the next step to push our organization to the next level was to stimulate student engagement directly by hosting a policy-based case competition (Policython)

The Goals for the Policython:

Raising Awareness

  • Teach the policy making process in an approachable format to those new to it​

  • Expand student’s current viewpoint on current policy issues pertaining STEM fields and beyond that relevant ​

​​

Engagement

  • Engage students and involve them in the policy making process to get them more familiar and invested in policy making​

  • Showcase how they can engage in policy making at different levels of government ​

​

On Campus Presence  

  • Create an event that STEMxPolicy is known for and increase our on campus presence​

  • Increased awareness of STEMxPolicy will ​

Format

In-Person Option Format:​

  • Provide package in advance, 1-3 weeks (people more willing to participate, will lead to higher quality presentations​

  • Main events day of will consist of presentations/judging, keynote speakers, networking/food​

  • All or some (depending on number) of presentations will go on concurrently, 2 judges per group grading​

  • Winners in each section announced​
